Fall is my favorite season for fashion. I love winter as well, but it’s so less applicable in Los Angeles when it never gets cold enough for a (faux) fur coat and thigh high boots (sigh). In the fall, in Los Angeles, it is cool enough for a chunky sweater but warm enough to pair them with a mini skirt (stay tuned for chunky sweaters and mini skirts!). Here are our Editors Pics: Summer to Fall Transitions.
Try some breezy silhouettes in dark colors. One of my favorites is a crop top maxi skirt combination. That way you can stay cool in the August heat and still look seasonally trendy.
I found my hat at an awesome accessories boutique in Beverly Hills called B. Poy and Jo. They also have an online store with a great selection. Black Wool Circle Hat from B. Poy and Joy ($36). My top is an American Apparel basic: Cotton Spandex Sleeveless Turtleneck Crop Top ($30). If you are not into black (why don’t you like black?), then you can match the color of the top with the pattern on your skirt. I found my skirt buried on a clearance rack at Urban Outfitters in Santa Cruz. I am not sure why anyone would pass up this 90’s throwback. It is no longer available so I found these great alternatives. The first is also from Urban but lacks the buttons. Get it here: MinkPink Moonflower Maxi Skirt in Black (€79). Here is another alternative with the awesome buttons: Volcom Peach Pit Maxi Skirt ($21.99). My shoes are from TopShop but they are no longer available because they are sold out due to awesomeness: Harper Flatform Sandals (£15.00) Here is a great close match from Steve Madden: Steve Madden Meetra Flatform Sandals ($34.99). This Handbag from H&M ($49) looks like a million bucks but costs under $50!
These sunglasses come from my favorite eyewear company Warby Parker. They are really well made and super affordable. This one is called Piper ($95). For every pair they sell, they donate a pair to someone in need.
I always lean towards a more natural look. Start with a great moisturizing sunscreen. I love Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+ by Devita ($25). It absorbs quickly, is all natural and you can apply makeup over it. The I go over it with Covergirl’s Clean Pressed Powder for Sensitive Skin in Ivory ($6.99). My makeup pet peeve is shimmer. That is a 90’s throwback I am not willing to revisit. For a clean natural look try Naked Basics by Urban Decay ($29). Finish off with a mascara Great Lash Lots of lashes ($6.40) and matte lip Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick, 104 ($5.39). I tend to do my own nails, so instead of splurging on a mani/pedi I splurge on great polish. Here I am wearing Le Vernis Nail Colour in Tentation by Chanel ($27).
